Watching the World Spin is a handmade printmaking book about living through my first winter in Ann Arbor. During this time, I repeatedly found myself in the same locations doing the same activity. This activity involved putting the phone away and simply watching the world spin around me. I created 5 landscape prints about this experience and turned these prints into a book.
Watching the World Spin was featured in the Stamps 2023 Undergraduate Juried Exhibition. https://stamps.umich.edu/events/2023-undergraduate-juried-exhibition
This printmaking concentration is about alter egos. An alter ego is the alternate personality or persona that one can adopt in order to set themselves free from the limitations of their true self. Four different compositions were digitally designed in photoshop and then laser carved into slabs of wood. Then these designs were printed using traditional relief and monoprint printmaking techniques. Twenty-one unique prints were created in total, and each print is 34x22 inches.
